SITE PREPARATION
Site Preparation is the Customers Responsibility
The site your building will sit on is one of the most important things to consider. If it allows your building to shift or sink, it can create problems and decrease the life of the shed.
OPTION ONE
Gravel Pad
We strongly encourage a gravel pad for ease of leveling and for a maintenance-free shed. This is the gold standard for shed foundations.
- Use washed 2B limestone or similar sized gravel
- Lay 3–4 inches deep on top of landscaping fabric
- No need to remove sod unless ground is more than 8″ out of level
- Make the site 1′ longer and wider than actual building size
OPTION TWO
Concrete Blocks
A secondary option using concrete blocks, railroad ties, or pressure-treated material. Suitable for smaller buildings only.
- Place blocks every 6′ on each skid running the full length
- Use only for buildings 12′ wide and under
- Not suitable for garages or heavy equipment storage
- A gravel pad is still recommended over this method
